Ive been making hippie threads off and on for about thirteen years. I went on Grateful Dead tour in the late 80s happyallison (6K)when I was nineteen and decided my future was either going to involve panhandling or getting a trade. I grew up with a mom who was an awesome seamstress, so I naturally chose to pull out the needle and thread. I began by making padded pouches with hand embroidered designs and eventually made my way into the world of clothes. I was living in my trusty orange 1978 VW camper bus (Fluff), so all of the clothes I made were done with no electricity... that is, they were all hand sewn...Whew! I have since moved on up in the world (technologically, that is) and now I actually use a sewing machine and a serger. I construct each item using either my fabulous Pfaff sewing machine or my unbelievable Husqvarna-Viking Designer 1. And of course, all of the stress point seams on my products are twice or thrice stitched. I topstitch where neccessary, and to make sure linings stay in place. All seams are serged on my Bernina four thread serger, thus ensuring durability and neatness (no fraying!) I wash and dry all fabrics before I make an item, so you dont have to worry about something shrinking or bleeding when you wash it! All bodices and pockets are lined, usually with 100% natural unbleached muslin (although sometimes I use a coordinating calico instead). All of my products are made with 100% natural fibers... no weird synthetic materials here. I stand by my work, so if you have any problems that are due to the quality of my clothing, I will take care of it.
