The Body Arts Co. in Niche Business Directory

The BODY ARTS company an artists company My professional background is music. Joyces is fine arts. We were both born and raised in Americas northeast. We like to travel and individually have ventured in & through Colorados higher altitudes and lagoons of the Caribbean. We have 3 kids who help us in everything we do. We are fortunate and lucky. Daniel and Joyce In 1982 I began painting temporary body art in the Italian street feasts of New York City with a new paint that was an offshoot of World War II camouflage makeup technology. The art looks so good, on first glance it takes a trained eye to tell the difference between it and real tattoo art. Over the next 10 years it became the standard cosmetic in the film and theatrical communities because it sustains heavy abuse under cinematic conditions and still looks real -- it is for sale under the menu item Body Paint in this site. Please note this is the product used by Robert DiNiros makeup artist for his bad guy roles in Good Fellows and Cape Fear. Kevin Bacon, Bruce Willis and Johnny Depp are some other names you would recognize who wear this makeup in their movies. We paint with it in the major summer fair season on expressive adults & kids who want to freak out their parents! Four years ago Joyce was asked to demonstrate henna art on Suzanne Somers debut interview TV program. She made a quick call to the Moroccan Embassy, learned henna was a plant as well as a few more facts that enabled her to commit to the show... whew. In retrospect, what she did on television just barely got her by, but it gave her the opportunity to delve into an ancient tradition. Joyces growing skills in the henna arts pleased friends and regional clientèle, but it took 4 years more and and national news coverage of Loretta Roomes Mehndi Project to bring henna to its current awareness in the West. As you may know, for months last summer there wasnt a day that went by without mention of henna in some magazine or on some television show. This created a strong demand for our retail and professional products--which in turn allowed us to study henna and other body arts more deeply and make contact with like-minded colleagues around the world. Ive recently been in the growing fields of Rajasthan, processing plants of Faridabad, universities of Delhi, and markets of India where Mehndi Wali and Mehndi Wala practice their art. It was a short trip, but I was intensely involved in gathering information about henna: from its use in medicine to decoration. There will be more trips--and more gathering. Joyce and I have been making a career of temporary body arts, going on collectively 17 years. Get in touch with us. There are bunches of us all over the world who are roaming around in the same fields. Tribal arts, ancient ways of seeing, simpler ways of living, beauty, grace, and eloquence...
